Revia is used to prevent addiction of certain drugs. It is used as part of a complete treatment program for drug abuse. Do not use it if you are currently using opiates, including methadone. It’s active component Naltrexone belongs to class of opiate antagonists. It works in the brain preventing opiate effects and decreasing desire to take opiates. Also Revia is used in treatment of alcohol abuse.
Side effects of Revia
From the digestive system: loss of appetite, diarrhea or constipation; rarely — dry mouth, flatulence, exacerbation of the symptoms of hemorrhoids, erosive and ulcerative lesions of the gastrointestinal tract, abdominal pain, increased activity of «liver» enzymes, increased or decreased appetite, weight gain.
From the nervous system: excitation, a state of prostration, irritability, dizziness; rarely — depression, paranoia, feeling of tiredness, confusion, disorientation in time and space, hallucinations, «nightmarish» dream, drowsiness, decreased visual acuity, pain and burning sensation in the eyes, photophobia, pain and a feeling of fullness in the ears, tinnitus .
Naltrexone — a potent substance that is a major component of the Revia drug.
Respiratory system: bronchial, nasal congestion (hyperemia of the vessels of the nasal cavity), rhinorrhea, cough, difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, nasal bleeding, sneezing, dry throat, increased slizeotdelenie, sinusitis.
From the CCC: rarely — phlebitis, edema, increased blood pressure, nonspecific ECG changes, tachycardia, feeling of heat in the limbs, feeling a sudden rush of blood to the face.
For the skin: rash; rarely — increased secretion of the sebaceous glands.
Other: facial flushing, generalized skin flushing, erythematous rash, arthralgia, myalgia, fever, hemorrhoids, acne, alopecia, pruritus, delayed ejaculation, decreased potency; rarely — increased frequency of urination, or violation of, the increase or decrease in libido, abnormal yawning, fever, pain in the groin, swollen lymph nodes, lymphocytosis; described the development of idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura.
