Generic Dulcolax is a stimulant laxative. It acts directly on the bowels. The drug stimulates the bowel muscles to cause a bowel movement. Also, the drug can be used for relieving occasional constipation and irregularity.

How does the drug:
-The drug is cleaved in the intestine.
-Irritating to mucous membrane receptors.
-Increases mucus production in the colon.
-Accelerates and increases peristalsis.
-If ingestion laxative effect usually occurs in 6-10 hours.
Indications for use:
-Chronic constipation of various etiologies;
-constipation due to hypotonia and sluggish motility of the colon;
-for the treatment of constipation in the elderly, in bedridden patients in the postoperative period;
-For the treatment of constipation after childbirth;
-improves regulation stool with hemorrhoids, proctitis, anal fissures;
— Facilitates purgation with preoperative;

-Hypersensitivity, strangulated hernia, intestinal obstruction, spastic constipation.
-Cannot be used in acute hemorrhoids, acute proctitis, and acute inflammatory diseases of the abdominal cavity.
-Prohibition on the use of the drug in diseases such as peritonitis, abdominal pain of unknown origin, bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract, uterine bleeding, cystitis, violations of water-electrolyte balance, colon carcinoma (suppository)

Symptoms of overdose:
— Diarrhea loss with large amounts of fluid and electrolytes
— As a result of dehydration: muscle weakness, seizures, cardiac abnormalities, hypotension.
