Plendil: Instructions for use and composition

Plendil is a calcium channel blocker indicated for treatment of high blood pressure.

Indications for use

— arterial hypertension;

— Angina.


— Heart failure decompensation stage;

— Acute myocardial infarction;

— Unstable angina;

— The age of 18 years (effectiveness and safety have been established);

— Hypersensitivity to felodipine or other components of the drug.

Inside, taken in the morning with water. The tablet does not share, do not crush or chew. Tablets can be applied on an empty stomach or with a small amount of food with low fat and carbohydrates.

Arterial hypertension

The dose should be individualized. The initial dose is 5 mg / day. Usual maintenance dose is 5 mg / day. If necessary, the dose may be increased. For therapy, other antihypertensive agent may be added.


The dose should be individualized. It is necessary to begin treatment with a dose of 5 mg / day, increasing the dose to 10 mg / day as needed. It may be administered in conjunction with beta-blockers.


Symptoms: an overdose, intoxication symptoms appear 12-16 hours after ingestion. The following symptoms may occur: bradycardia (sometimes tachycardia), marked reduction in blood pressure, AV block I-III Degree, ventricular premature beats, atrioventricular dissociation, asystole, ventricular fibrillation; headache, dizziness, impairment of consciousness (coma), convulsions; shortness of breath, pulmonary edema (non-cardiac), and sleep apnea; adults may develop respiratory distress syndrome; acidosis, hypokalemia, hyperglycemia, hypocalcemia possible; redness of the face, accompanied by a «tide», hypothermia; nausea and vomiting. The greatest risk is the impact on the circulation of overdose.

Treatment: Purpose of activated charcoal, if necessary gastric lavage, in some cases is effective even at a late stage of intoxication. The specific antidote — calcium supplements.
