Dosage Leukeran is one of components of the combination therapy. Leukeran ingested. Tablets should not be divided into parts.

Indications for use

Hodgkin’s disease (Hodgkin’s disease);

Malignant lymphoma (including lymphosarcoma);

Chronic lymphocytic leukemia;

Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia (Waldenstrom’s Disease)

Leukeran contraindicated

1. After the radiation treatment.

2. After the chemotherapy.

3. Hypersensitivity to the drug and pregnancy are also contraindications to its use.

Precautions: If there are signs of oppression of the bone marrow, with chickenpox or herpes zoster, acute infectious diseases, viral, or fungal origin; if the patient has bone marrow infiltration by tumor cells, or he suffers from gout, epilepsy or suffered a traumatic brain injury history.

Side effect

From hemopoiesis system

In 10% of cases may reduce the number of leukocytes, platelets, hemoglobin decrease.

In 0.01% of cases can be marked suppression of bone marrow function.

From the digestive system: 1% of cases may develop nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, ulceration of the mucous membranes. In 0.1% of cases observed hepatotoxic affects Leukeran (cirrhosis, cholestasis with jaundice).

The respiratory system

rarely (less than 0.01%) may cause the development of interstitial pneumonia or interstitial lung fibrosis (with prolonged use Leukeran).

From the nervous system

possible development of seizures (in children), uncertainty in walking, tremors, twitching muscles, sensory disturbances, paresis, weakness, anxiety.

Allergic reactions

skin rash, generalized allergic reaction (Stevens — Johnson syndrome, Lyell’s syndrome).

With the genitourinary system: aseptic cystitis (less than 0.01%).

Overdose

In case of overdose can occur: reversible pancytopenia (decrease in the number of cells), ataxia, irritability, recurrent epileptic seizures.
